MIKE ATACK  3rd dan

Michael Atack 3rd Dan is an assistant instructor at the Ku-ring-gai dojo.

Michael has trained for over 16 years under the primary instruction of Derek Minus Sensei 6th Dan, beginning his training after reading an article on aikido and calling to see when training was:

I rang Sensei, who claimed that aikido had the ability to deal with multiple opponents (e.g. 5 attackers at a time), I didn’t believe him so I had to see it for myself.

He was right and I have never left.

Michael also trains consistently under Takayasu Sensei Shihan in the city branch dojo in order to further develop and consolidate his understanding of aikido principles.

He has also had the privilege of being an uchi-deshi at the Iwama Dojo for 1 month under the late Morihiro Saito Sensei in 2000 prior to his passing and has also attended seminars by Nemoto Sensei, Ulf Evenas Sensei and others.

Michael has an interest in applications of aikido dealing with alternative martial arts such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai and Boxing.
